They say that age is nothing but a number, and this might be true when it comes to how you feel, but it isn’t always as easy when it comes to how you look. The truth is that many people who feel young live hard and as a result, they start to look a bit worn around the edges. So, what can be done about this? It seems a shame to feel young and to party like a 20-year-old if you are inhabiting a body that looks like that of a 60-year-old. Here are a few simple tips to help you stay on top of your image and keep everyone wondering if you have found an elixir for youth.
Use a beautician
The beautician is typically the domain of females, but even then, many women feel uncomfortable outsourcing their ‘maintenance’ to somebody else. But the reality is that beauticians are trained to take care of other people’s bodies. They will remove unwanted hair, manage wrinkles and generally make sure that everything looks as it should. As we get older hair tends to grow in places where it is not wanted – think nose and ears or back. Find a beautician that is close to you and make them your regular port of call. A simple Google search for something like ‘Perth skin and laser’ should be enough to find the right partner. Don’t hold make, it is amazing what an expert can do to help revitalize your skin.
Exercise
This might sound like a cliché, but there are so many benefits to be derived from regular exercise that it is almost hard to list them all. Chief amongst that list are things like weight loss, the creation of muscle mass, and the release of endorphins – which are feel-good hormones that can bring shine and luster to your skin. It doesn’t matter what exercise you do specifically. It can be anything from jogging to tennis or going to the gym, doing yoga, or simply walking the dog. Whatever it is, the important thing is to be active.
Eat properly
Another key element of staying young-looking is being aware of what you put into your body. Junk food and cigarettes are of absolutely no use at all. Sugar spikes will give you energy for a short while before you start to crash – a feeling that will leave you feeling tired and haggard. Your body is not designed to cope with big ups and down in sugar levels, so rather focus on putting good things into your body. It will go a long way towards keeping you healthy and vital. In this regard water is one of the most important things to drink regularly. (1)
Sleep
Sleep is when your body regenerates and restores itself and it is very important to get enough sleep. Many people think that they can survive with very little rest, and most can get away with it for a day or two, but sustained periods without sleep are dangerous and can have very negative effects. Your body will thank you if you sleep more – eight hours a night is what you should be striving for every night.(2)
